A minibus with 15 citizens traveling had to stop in Sderot because of a flat tire. Then, the Hamas offensive began and they found themselves locked out of the shelter. While seeking shelter from the rocket fire, they were spotted by terrorists who shot them at close range and even videotaped the killing. Only two civilians survived.

At dawn, the traveling minibus begins collecting passengers in Ofakim
After another pick-up in Netivot, the minibus arrives in Sderot. In front of the city's municipal library, driver Sharif Abu Taha stops the vehicle near a bus stop. He gets out of the minibus and discovers punctures in two wheels.

The members of the group hear a Red Color alarm and try to get into the shelter at the station, however, the electrical system used to open the door (the “gatekeeper”) is locked and they cannot enter.

The passengers continue to be locked out of the shelter while the driver tries to change a wheel. Some travelers are phoning their families to make sure everything is OK. When they realize that this is a major event, some inform the families that the trip is canceled so that they can return home as soon as possible.

A white van with about ten terrorists enters the city from the junction of Shaar HaNegev to the Sapirim industrial area and from there, they advance to the industrial area of Sderot - on a path that was later called the “Axis of Death”. On their way they shoot and slaughter everything in their way.
Officer Sharon Allal, arriving from his home in Moshav Heletz in a private car, absorbs machine gun fire near the entrance to the city. The policeman continues the ride on the axis and stops near the minibus. He warns the driver and passengers against the terrorists: "Take cover".
The terrorists encounter the group still standing next and behind the shelter. They shoot the members of the group and murder 13 of them with machine guns and firearms. The driver Abu Taha hides behind the shelter, a terrorist sees him along with another female passenger and shoots at them. Abu Taha recounted those moments: “They shot them all and dead-checked them. I hid with someone else behind the shelter, they shot her. I pretended to be dead, I didn't move”.
Family members repeatedly try to call their relatives and various officials to find out what happened to them. For hours on end they don't get any answers.
Documentation from the scene is being circulated on social media. During the day, some of the families were exposed to photos.

The families don't know where the bodies were taken and where the personal belongings of their loved ones are. Some families cling to hope they are still alive.
The process of identifying the bodies ends. Families officially receive the news and bury their loved ones.
