When Kerem Shalom residents were ordered to lock their house's doors, Guy Teitelbaum left his door open to offer shelter. An hour later, a terrorist entered, stole valuables and fired into the rooms, sparing only the safe room. Later, the family found seven terrorists' bodies in their courtyard, killed by the security squad

On Saturday, October 7th, Ricky and Guy wake up to the jarring sound of explosions and red alerts and quickly rush into their home’s safe room, which doubles as their children's bedroom, Jonathan (11) and Yuval (14). An additional safe room in the house remains empty that morning. The parents reassure their children that the rocket fire will soon cease. Meanwhile, in a youth apartment elsewhere in the kibbutz, their eldest daughter Belle (21) enters her safe room with her partner, Dor
In the kibbutz's WhatsApp group, residents are instructed to lock their homes and remain in their safe rooms. However, Guy deliberately leaves the Teitelbaums’ front door open explaining to his wife, Ricky, that he wants to offer shelter to worshippers from the nearby synagogue. Ricky is upset by his decision
Ricky records the children inside the safe room when the sound of gunfire suddenly echoes. Unbeknownst to them, the sounds they hear are clashes between the kibbutz's emergency squad and terrorists, though Ricky and Guy believe soldiers have arrived to assist them. Ricky continues documenting, saying in the video, “They’re destroying our home. What’s happening here?” Meanwhile, Guy tries to reassure the children while standing by the safe room door, loading his firearm
A terrorist infiltrates the Teitelbaum family home through the unlocked front door, rummaging from room to room, firing indiscriminately, and stealing items such as headphones, a watch, and the keys to the Teitelbaum's vehicle. He discovers the open, vacant safe room but overlooks the concealed second one where the family hides. In the living room, he shoots the television, lifts the electric shutters, and exits the house. From within the safe room, Guy hears the chaos—the gunfire, destruction, and the shattering of glass in the shower room. Emerging cautiously to assess the aftermath, Guy catches a fleeting glimpse of the terrorist’s back as he departs, oblivious to Guy's presence
Ricky leaves the safe room after Guy and encounters Yair Wiesner, a kibbutz emergency squad member, inside their home. Speaking quietly, Yair reveals that a terrorist has entered their house. He advises Ricky to keep the children away from the backyard, but her curiosity drives her to look. From the enclosed balcony, she sees seven terrorist bodies lying in the courtyard
Guy recognizes the severity of the terrorist infiltration in his community. He instructs Ricky and the children, who have managed to leave the safe room, to return to it for safety. Sitting on the window sill with his gun in hand, Guy keeps a watchful eye outside. He also asks Ricky to switch the TV channels, ensuring the children won't be frightened by the news
Shirel Habaz, a security squad member, seeks refuge from missile fire near Guy and Ricky’s home. Initially mistaking Shirel for a terrorist, Guy soon recognizes him and invites him inside. Ricky bandages Shirel’s injured leg, wounded during the fighting, and urges him to remain indoors for his safety. Shirel recounts witnessing his squad mate, Amichai Weitzen, fall in battle at the neighboring Schindler family home. Ricky comforts him and offers refreshments to both him and the children. Over the next few hours, the Teitelbaum family alternates between leaving the safe room for brief breaks and retreating when red alerts sound

Shirel Habaz, a member of the security squad, receives an update over his walkie-talkie about the arrival of an Israeli military force in the kibbutz. The unit, part of the IDF's "Bislamach" Brigade, consists of around 50 combatants. Relieved, he reassures Ricky, "The army is here; you can take a deep breath." The force conducts meticulous scans of the kibbutz to confirm the area is free of terrorists

The Teitelbaum's eldest daughter, Belle, with her partner, arrives at her parents' home. The family spends the night in the safe room, joined by Shirel, the injured security squad member. An evacuation is planned for 5:00 AM but is delayed due to ongoing rocket attacks and terrorist infiltrations in the area

After nearly 40 hours in the Teitelbaum safe room, along with other kibbutz residents, the family is evacuated to a hotel in Eilat. Before departing, Ricky and Guy search for their car keys, eventually finding them discarded near the house. Outside the safe room window, they discover a bag filled with weapons and ammunition left by the terrorists. At 20:00, the family boards the evacuation bus
