Itzik is staying in the safe room while terrorists break into his home. They are shooting at the safe room door, and Itzik is injured in his hand.
Itzik calls his brother Danny and informs him that he has been seriously injured in his hand and is bleeding. Dany tries to guide him on how to apply a tourniquet. In the background, Danny hears screams in Arabic, and suddenly, Itzik shouts, "Danny, it's the end." The call disconnects. Danny tries to call him back unsuccessfully. Itzik's daughter calls him and hears screams until the call disconnects.
One of the neighbors alerts via the kibbutz app that Itzik needs help after he was injured in his hand and that he is losing blood.
Danny tries to communicate with Itzik in every way possible but is unsuccessful. He requests the kibbutz members come to his house immediately.
Itzik continues to request urgent assistance through the kibbutz app.
Danny reaches out to Yaron Maor, a resident of Nir Oz who is married to Itzik's niece, Li, asking him to try to get to his house. Yaron tells Danny that he is barricaded and fighting the terrorists.
According to phone location tracking that the family conducted during the night, Itzik crossed the Gaza border at 12:10 PM.
Danny Elgarat, Itzik's niece, and his friends continue to write in the app, alerting that Itzik is injured and needs help.
About two hours after the terrorists left the kibbutz, they manage to reach Itzik's home and inform his brother that he is not in the safe room.
Danny arrives at Itzik's house in Nir Oz. The bedroom is filled with blood, and the safe room door is riddled with bullet holes.

After the return of some of the hostages, Itzik's family receives information that some of them saw him alive and even spoke with him.
As part of the efforts to secure the release of the hostages, Danny Elgarat met with the Danish Prime Minister and other senior officials. Itzik holds Danish citizenship, and his two children reside in Denmark.
