Oren, a kibbutz security squad member, was dispatched to determine the source of smoke rising at the kibbutz gate adjacent to his home. Unbeknownst to him, he walked into a terrorist ambush. He was killed, and his body taken to Gaza. His wife, Oshrit, sheltered for hours with their young twins. Nine months later, his body was recovered by the IDF

Oren and Oshrit wake to the piercing sound of Red Alert sirens and rush their two-year-old twins, Aviv and Hilli, into the safe room. As heavy gunfire continues, Oren replies his friends, who ask what's happening: "I asked Yaron (the Military Ongoing Security Coordinator - Ravshatz), but he hasn't replied yet. Ynet News says rocket barrages were fired at Rishon and Tel Aviv," he replies.
Tal Chaimi, head of the community's security squad and deputy Ravshatz, directs the 11 squad members, including Oren, to activate their walkie talkies, gear up with vests, and prepare to deploy
The terrorists arrive at the kibbutz entrance near the Polishak factory, setting fire to plastic rolls. From their home adjacent to the Kibbutz gate, Oren and Oshrit catch the scent of burning

Oren is sent to check the gate, where smoke is rising. Minutes later, contact with him is lost. As he reaches the area, he walks into a terrorist ambush and is hit by sniper fire

As Oren stops responding, Nir Yitzhak’s Ravshatz deputies, Tal Chaimi and Lior rudaeff, search for him. They reach the gate, scan the area, and find his lifeless body. Unable to retrieve him, they cover him. Later that day, terrorists seize Oren's body and take it to Gaza
Terrorists storm the Goldin family’s home, vandalizing it and leaving it in ruins. Inside the safe room, Oshrit tries to keep the children silent. A grenade is thrown into the house, causing part of the bathroom ceiling to collapse. Fortunately, the terrorists do not enter the safe room and move on to the next house
Throughout the day, Oshrit stays in touch with Oren’s brother, Rani, and his wife, Or, who live in another part of the kibbutz. She tells them about the difficulty of being alone with the children in the safe room. With the help of security squad members and arriving soldiers, she and the children relocate to Rani’s home
Like the other kibbutz residents, the Goldin family is directed to gather in the fortified kindergartens across the kibbutz. They spend the night there under the protection of security forces.
While awaiting evacuation in the fortified kindergarten at the kibbutz, the Goldin family is informed that Oren has been declared missing, along with two other residents—his fellow emergency squad members, Tal Chaimi and Lior rudaeff
Oshrit and the children are evacuated by bus to Caesar Hotel in Eilat along with other kibbutz residents
Oren's family is notified of his murder on October 7th, with security forces presuming his body is being held in Gaza. Three days later, his family and friends hold a memorial service in the lobby of the Eilat hotel where they were evacuated.
