Marcel Freilich Kaplun and Dror Kaplun, a couple in their sixties, spent four hours in their safe room until terrorists broke in. A terrorist's video shows them being marched down the kibbutz's streets. Another video, minutes later, shows them slumped on the road, having been executed. Their bodies were identified and laid to rest only days later.

Against the backdrop of non-stop alarms, Marcel and Dror enter the safe room in their home
In the family WhatsApp group, Dror reports an infiltration into the kibbutz and that a gunfight is happening near the house. at 7:49 he adds “real gunfight right next to us”
While the shooting in the kibbutz continues, Dror updates on the WhatsApp group: “It seems that only the kibbutz security squad is functioning, there is no army, it has been going on for half an hour, it does not look good, we are in the safe room, Let's hope they don't choose to come to us, amen... The battle here isn't stopping, there are casualties”
Throughout the morning, Marcel corresponded, among others, with her friend Dr. Zehava Scherz. At 8:35 Marcel sends her last message: a screaming emoji
The two continue to update family members via WhatsApp, in part about the terrorists setting fire to houses in order to get residents out of the safe rooms. The last message from Dror is received at 10:26
In a video distributed by Hamas, Marcel and Dror are seen walking along the paths of the kibbutz handcuffed and surrounded by armed terrorists. With them are their neighbors - Yona Cohen and Kinneret Gat. According to the police, the last record of Dror alive is from 10:39
In another video shot by the terrorists in the kibbutz, the couple and two neighbors are seen slumped motionless by the side of the road, at the point from which the terrorists took abductees to Gaza. The four are believed to have been executed shortly after being marched to that location
The terrorists kidnap Dror's body on a motorcycle. Near the kibbutz's fence, the terrorists encounter an IDF force that kills them. Dror's body remains lying in place and unidentified for many days
Marcel's body is identified and two days later she is brought to burial in Kibbutz Revivim. At this point Dror is defined by the IDF as kidnapped, after his phone was traced inside Gaza

Kibbutz Beeri announces that Dror was also murdered on 7.10. His bones are discovered near the kibbutz fence, about 100 metres from where he was executed, and are identified by officials from the Israel Antiquities Authority. On December tenth he is laid to rest in kibbutz Mishmarot
