On Saturday morning, Dor Levi, a member of Ein HaShlosha's security squad, set out to defend the kibbutz. His wife, Sunshine, stayed behind with their two young children, gripping the safe room door handle until the terrorists finally withdrew. That same morning, Sunshine’s stepfather, Rami Negbi—the kibbutz’s security coordinator—was murdered

Dor Levi (37) was born in Ein HaShlosha and has served in the kibbutz’s security squad for over a decade. His wife, Sunshine (36), immigrated to Israel from the Philippines at the age of 13, after her mother, Lydia Negbi, met Rami Negbi—the kibbutz’s security coordinator—and moved in with him. On Saturday morning, Dor and Sunshine were asleep at home with their children, four-year-old Korin and two-year-old Tomer. As the alerts begin, Sunshine carries a mattress into the safe room and continues sleeping there with her children. Dor prepares to head out

Rami Negbi, the kibbutz’s security coordinator, instructs Dor to gather his gear and meet him. But before Dor can respond, he gets a call from Batya Oner, a member of the emergency team, informing him that terrorists have entered the home of kibbutz resident Noa Glazberg. After the call, Dor heads toward Rami, only to find that his vehicle is gone. He hears intense gunfire and tries to locate its source. Meanwhile, Sunshine stays with the children in the safe room
Dor makes his way toward a shelter, to a vantage point from which he can see Noa’s house. On the way, he notices shattered windows in the building designated as the command center, as he awaits his fellow security squad member, Yogev Natan, to join him. The two enter the shelter and confirm that the area is secure. Yogev then informs Dor that Rami has been wounded
As Dor and Yogev approach Noa's house following the shooting, they hear terrorists and take cover. Shortly thereafter, they see more terrorists arriving at the scene. The two take cover to understand the situation and try to contact military officials

Sunshine and her children hear shouting in Arabic outside their home. To calm them, Sunshine puts on a show on her phone. When her son asks about the noise, she tells him, “It’s just a tractor.” Once the noise outside fades, Sunshine leaves the safe room and blocks the house entrance with chairs. Meanwhile, the group of terrorists that is close to Dor and Yogev retreats from the scene. According to assessments, IDF forces positioned outside the kibbutz opened fire and struck them

Terrorists break into the Levi’s home, smashing windows and one of the doors. Sunshine grips the safe room door and braces herself against it. She asks her daughter, Korin, to fetch a piece of fabric to improve her grip. Korin, who had been crying for several minutes, stops and brings it to her. A few minutes later, the terrorists attempt twice to break into the safe room, but Sunshine holds the door with all her might. They shout, “Why should you lock it?” before finally giving up and walking away
At approximately 8:45 a.m., Liora Ben Tzur, a kibbutz resident who was hospitalized in Ashdod after giving birth to her son, calls her brothers, Bezalel and Yedidya Talia, and informs them that terrorists have infiltrated the kibbutz. The two armed themselves and set out for Ein HaShlosha. Liora directs them to the correct location and updates Dor that they are on their way. Around 1:30 p.m., the two arrive at the kibbutz gate and meet Dor and Yogev. The four begin scouring the kibbutz. During the search, Dor discovers Rami’s body, while the brothers find their mother’s body. Dor then goes to Lydia Negbi—Rami’s wife and his mother-in-law— and embraces her

While searching the kibbutz, Dor returns home. He calls out to Sunshine to open the safe room door, embraces her and the children, and then resumes his role in securing the kibbutz. A few hours later, a member of the security squad escorts Lydia to her daughter Sunshine’s home, where she joins her daughter and grandchildren in the safe room
Dor returns home and finds Lydia with his family. For hours, he shelters with them in the safe room, his weapon in hand, withholding the news of Rami’s murder
