Shinshinim Commune, Ein HaShlosha | October 7 Kan 7.10.360

In August 2023, nine young men and women, aged 18-19, began their service year by volunteering at Kibbutz Ein HaShlosha, where they live together in a communal setting. Their residence is divided into two buildings: one houses their living quarters and a reinforced safe room, while the other contains a kitchen, a living room, and an additional safe room. As sirens blare, eight members take refuge in the safe room within the living quarters, while Noam Kramer enters the other. Uri Cohen, a kibbutz resident and mentor to the commune, checks on their safety and provides guidance

Throughout the morning, the nine volunteers come across a video showing terrorists driving a white pickup truck through Sderot and realize that terrorists have infiltrated the western Negev. Uri, the group's mentor, messages them: "As of now, there are no confirmed updates regarding Ein HaShlosha." Meanwhile, terrorists storm homes in the kibbutz, killing several residents. About half an hour later, Uri informs them that terrorists have breached the Kibbutz's of Be’eri and Magen

Uri messages the commune members: "I've received an update that there are terrorists in the kibbutz." He instructs them to remain silent and stay away from the windows. As the group deliberates over who should leave the safe room to turn off the lights and lock the residency doors, Noam Kramer, alone in the second safe room, steps out to secure the doors before joining the others in the safe room within the living quarters

Terrorists break through the entrance door of the commune's residency. Michael grips the safe room door firmly and urges his friends to escape through the window, but they remain silent inside. Noya exchanges messages with Noam Meshulam, a friend of her sister, who tries to guide her on how to act if the terrorists breach in. Later, she feels unwell and vomits. Aviv messages his parents. The terrorists stay in the building for about an hour. They steal valuables, eat Bamba snacks, and eventually leave

Security forces knock on the door. The group hesitates to open, fearing it might be terrorists. One of the security officers states his name, and the group recognizes him and unlock the door. The group step out briefly to gather food and drinks before returning to the safe room. Earlier in the afternoon, Moti Barton, Noya’s father, drives from Shoham to the kibbutz, unarmed, in an attempt to rescue his daughter. When Noya meets the security forces, they inform her that her father has arrived at the kibbutz. She goes to see him and then returns

Security forces evacuate the group to Kibbutz Mishmar HaNegev, from where they disperse to their homes across the country. Noya and her father, Moti, drive kibbutz member Jacqueline Gliksman to central Israel. Jacqueline survived the massacre after jumping out of her safe room window and escaping the terrorists
